SensoRhythm workshops are primarily influenced by the seductive rhythms of Brazil. Developed from a blend of African, European and Indian influences, Brazilian music offers a wide range of rhythms, most of them associated with a specific region of the country - from the samba of Rio to the more African based rhythms of Bahia, north eastern Brazil.

Brazilian drumming has many qualities that make it highly conducive to team training. The rhythms are easily accessible and non-threatening, which enables all participants to be part of the experience, whatever their musical ability.

The music is predominantly polyphonic i.e. there are often at least two independent, but equally important and co-ordinated things going on at once. The dynamic quality of the drumming is brought about by the interplay of rhythmic patterns contributed by each individual. Thus each participant has a unique and equally important role in creating the entire musical piece.

During the workshop participants have the opportunity to play a variety of Brazilian drums and percussion instruments including: surdos (large bass drums); caixas (snare drums); repiniques; (high-pitched calling drums); tamborims (small hand held drums); ganzas (shakers) and agogo bells (metal bells of different pitches).
